About Trex All-Weather Lumber
Trex Patio Furniture is manufactured using Poly-Wood brand recycled
plastic lumber. Poly-Wood's lumber is made from high-density
polyethylene (HDPE), UV-inhibited pigment systems, foaming compounds,
and selected process additives. The HDPE primary raw material is derived
from post-consumer bottle waste, such as milk and detergent bottles or
other HDPE post industrial material. This material is cleaned by a
decontamination process to a high purity level, which removes
contaminants such as food residue, paper, and adhesives. It is then
compounded into a rigid board stock material; with the resulting
finished product containing over 90% recycled plastic by weight.
Because HDPE products are made with a single, purified polymer, they
are manufactured to exacting, reproducible specifications. They have
exceptional resistance to corrosive substances, oil and fuels, insects,
fungi, salt spray, and other environmental stresses. They do not absorb
moisture; therefore, they will not rot, splinter, or crack. HDPE
products have excellent weathering resistance; however, as with other
polyolefins, it is possible that the material will fade slightly over
the service life of the product. These products require no water
proofing, painting, staining, or similar maintenance when used in many
exterior applications.
About Trex Furniture Cushions
Trex Outdoor Furniture Cushions are manufactured in the USA using
Sunbrella fabric. Sunbrella furniture fabrics are produced from tough
acrylic fibers, so they resist stains and mildew while maintaining their
good looks, indoors or out. Because Sunbrella is manufactured using
100% solution-dyed yarns, the color can't fade or wash out, so you can
be sure they'll remain vibrant for years, even in the harshest sun!
Sunbrella fabric is breathable and water-repellent. If kept dry, it
will not support the growth of mildew as natural fiber will. It's easy
to clean, requiring simple dusting off and soap and water. And with the
wide selection of stripes, solids, and textures, it's the best overall
fabric for your furniture.
Product Care
For regular maintenance simply wash the product with soap and water. For
advanced cleaning or to remove fungi, use a solution of 1/3 bleach and
2/3 water. Fungi can also be removed using any readily available
anti-fungal product. A high pressure power washer may be used for regular maintenance to keep
your furniture looking like new. Pressure should not exceed 1,500 psi,
which is the equivalent of a car wash. The surface characteristics of the product may
require the use of a soft bristle brush to get into the creases.
The
hardware used in the assembly and construction of our furniture is an
18-8 commercial grade stainless steel that has an additional Xylan®
protective and cosmetic coating. Although the quality of the hardware
has a high level of corrosive resistance, the hardware can show some
sign of corrosion in salt air environments.A practical solution to these
signs of corrosion would be to wash the product with soap and water.
Use a soft bristle brush to scrub the corroding areas of the hardware.
Also, use appliance touch up paint in the appropriate color to protect
the hardware. Appliance touch up paint can be purchased at local
hardware stores.
